Your future is better if you can count on help when you need it most from people who care. Your people: the Tampa Electric family.
Since the 19th century, Tampa Electric has been Tampa’s hometown provider of reliable electricity. As the community it serves has grown, the company has grown too. Tampa Electric team members work hard, and as almost any current or former employee can tell you, it’s easy to find people who have been with the utility a long time – if not their entire careers. Tampa Electric focuses constantly on being a positive force in the community. But doing so starts with being a positive force for the men and women who both make and have made their company run.
You’ll find references to the Tampa Electric Employee Benefits Association in the Tampa Tribune dating back longer than a century ago. On Dec. 14, 1906, a tragic on-the-job accident claimed the life of 24-year-old Tampa Electric employee Otto Rowell – a member of TEEBA, along with the employees who were pallbearers at his funeral – and serves as a reminder of the hazards inherent in life and work, today and yesteryear alike.
From its early incarnation as The Tampa Electric Benevolent Society to its current status as TEEBA, the essence of the organization is to be there when its members need it most. With decades of experience making a difference in the lives and health of people like you, that spirit continues in a variety of ways that TEEBA participants find beneficial:
[listitems is_numeric=”no”]TEEBA is not profit-driven; the dues it collects from members enable it to remain effective.
Dues are small, as low as $12 per month.
TEEBA’s staff is accessible and eager to answer your questions.
You’ll find real camaraderie in TEEBA; members get together on a regular basis for various activities.[/listitems]
As with any strong family, the participation from those in TEEBA means its members help each other. It’s an ideal that has been critical to the success of Tampa Electric for more than a century, and with your participation in TEEBA – whether you’re retired from TECO or still actively employed – that spirit continues.
